Plan of the Lyrical House
Aco Šopov‘s Lyrical House is a virtual and dynamic museum which provides a comprehensive overview of the life and work of this poet, who is one of the founders of contemporary Macedonian poetry and whose voice is one of the most powerful in Southeast Europe in the 20th century.
A glimpse of the author’s life is in the Display Case, whereas more curious visitors can follow the Creative Paths to discover more illustrated details of the poet’s life and work (currently under construction).
They will find a selection of Šopov’s original and translated books in the Library, and a choice of his poems, interviews and writings in the Reading Room, which also contains articles and quotations about him.
The Events, classified according to year, will give you an idea of the cultural activities that are organized in his honour since 2006.
You can visit the Video Library and the Gallery which exhibits a series of portraits of the poet, as well as works of art inspired by his poetry.
You can also buy a book at the Bookstore and get to know the poet’s Friends. A special room is devoted to the Macedonian poets who received the Aco Šopov Prize for the best collection of the year, an award attributed each year since 1999 by the Macedonian Writers Society.
The Lyrical House was conceived and set up by the Aco Šopov Poetry Foundation, which aims to promote the work of the Macedonian poet, but also to support research and encourage international cooperation, particularly between young artists.
The Lyrical House opened its doors on 8 October 2014. It exists in several language versions whose contents vary according to the available elements. It is a permanent work in progress and is enriched month by month. To find out how the idea of this virtual museum came about and how it is maintained, go in the Hall.
