Eligibility Criteria for the “Aco Šopov” Scholarship
The Aco Šopov Poetry Foundation scholarships are intended for students in humanities (literature, languages, literary translation, history of literature, cultural studies...) whose research is inspired by the values embodied in the work of Aco Šopov: humanism, cosmopolitanism, multiculturalism, intercultural dialogue, equality, and tolerance. Research projects must also adhere to contemporary research methodologies.
To be eligible, applicants must:

Be enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program;

Have a thesis or dissertation topic approved by the academic council of their faculty (or equivalent);

Dedicate at least one third of their work to contemporary Macedonian poetry and at least one quarter to the work of Aco Šopov;

Maintain a good overall academic record.

Applicants must submit the following documents by email to acosopov.fondacija@gmail.com:

A motivation letter;

A short CV;

A description of the research project:

1,200–1,500 words for a Master’s thesis

2,500–3,000 words for a Doctoral dissertation

A recommendation letter from the supervisor (up to 600 words);

The academic council’s approval of the thesis or dissertation topic (or equivalent).
Applications must be received within 40 working days from the publication of the call. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
Awarding and Notification of Results
The scholarship jury, composed of members of the Foundation and university professors, will announce its decision within 30 days after the application deadline. Decisions of the jury are final. Unsuccessful candidates may apply again up to three times.
Scholarship Amounts

Master’s scholarship: €1,500 (paid in two installments over one year)

Doctoral scholarship: €3,000 (paid in three installments over two years)
Recipients are required to sign a contract with the Foundation, which specifies the rights and obligations of both parties.
