{"id":98161,"date":"2022-10-28T15:57:48","date_gmt":"2022-10-28T13:57:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.acosopov.com\/library\/%d0%ba%d0%bd%d0%b8%d0%b3%d0%b8-%d0%b2%d0%be-%d0%bf%d1%80%d0%b5%d0%bf%d0%b5%d0%b2\/"},"modified":"2026-01-11T14:33:57","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T13:33:57","slug":"translated-books","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.acosopov.com\/en\/library\/translated-books\/","title":{"rendered":"Translated books"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1>\n\t\t\tAco \u0160opov: Books translated into other languages\t<\/h1>\n\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/old.acosopov.com\/hall\/biography@lang=en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aco \u0160opov<\/a>\u00a0was the first Macedonian writer to be translated into Slovenian, one of the three languages of the former Yugoslavia: the controversial book\u00a0<em>Merge with the Silence<\/em>, published in Skopje in 1955, was published in Ljubljana in 1957. He was also the first to be published in a non-Slavic language, Hungarian, in 1964, and the first to be published in a language of wider communication, Russian, the same year.<\/p>\n<p>Books of \u0160opov&#8217;s poetry have also been published in Arabic, English, French, German, Latvian, Polish, Romanian, Serbo-Croatian and Spanish, while selections of his poems have appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines in these same languages, as well as in Belarusian, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, Greek, Italian, Malay, Slovak, Turkish and Ukrainian.<\/p>\n<p>During his lifetime, he published ten collections of selected poems in foreign languages, the number of which has been steadily increasing since his death in 1982.<\/p>\n\t<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.acosopov.com\/aco-sopovs-translated-books-multilingual-bibliography\/\">SEE THE MULTILINGUAL BIBLIOGRAPHY OF \u0160OPOV&#8217;S TRANSLATED BOOKS<\/a><\/h2>\n\tThe information is by default given in the language in which the book has been translated.<br \/>\nFor some books information is available in several languages.\n<hr \/>\n<p>In English, an extensive selection of Aco \u0160opov&#8217;s poems was published in October 2023, to mark the centenary of his birth, by Deep Vellum, USA, under the title\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acosopov.com\/en\/aco-sopov-the-long-coming-of-the-fire-2023\/\"><em>The Long Coming of the Fire<\/em><\/a>. We owe the English translation to Christina E.
