\n\t\t\tThe White Sorrow of the Spring\t<\/h1>\n\tI left you, song of old, song of innocence,
\nleft without regret.
\nFor the white sorrow of the wellspring I left,
\nfor the inconstant love of the rivers,
\nfor a lump of sky the blueness of coal,
\nfor the unreachable things, the most distant things.
\nI left you, song of old, song of innocence,
\nleft without regret.
\nAnd now a weight of uncertainty sits
\nhunched on the doorstep of the morning,
\nrepeating the same question over and over:
\nIs there really any value to what you think has value?\nBecause I know:
\neverything will fall silent when autumn comes,
\nand when they join with the seas that are theirs,
\nthe rivers will find a love that brings them peace,
\nand the sky will grow ripe, made fruitful by the song
\nof the grain and the vines and the olives.
\nOnly the white sorrow of the spring
\nwill remain\u2028the same as it was, unchanged-
